Once we have issued and sent to you the DS-2019 Certificate of Eligibility and your SEVIS number, you can apply for a visa appointment at a US Consulate in home country or country of residence.

To apply for a visa appointment at a US Consulate, you must fill out Form DS-160. A fill-out guide is provided in our download section.
You must pay $185 to the US Consulate for the processing of your J-1 visa, and $220 for your SEVIS number.
We generally recommend waiting to book flights until you have at least a confirmed visa appointment date at a US Consulate.
No. When filling out the DS-160 please use your US host company’s address. You also do not need a return flight at the time of your visa interview.
Currently, all J-1 visa applicants must indicate their social media profiles and must have them set to public at the time of the visa interview. Failure to comply may result in a visa denial by the US authorities.
