Severe Weather Alert: Hurricane Irma

To all J-1 Participant located in Florida,

according to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Irma is making its way towards Southern Florida and will make landfall this weekend.

Hurricane Irma is now a category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 175 miles per hour  (282 km/h) and considered extremely dangerous. Florida Governor Rick Scott declared a statewide emergency yesterday.

Due to the approach of Hurricane Irma, we urge all our participants in the affected areas to start preparing.  

Please contact us as soon as possible if you are affected by evacuations or if you are in an affected area.

We want to make sure that all of our participants are safe during this hazardous weather condition.

We strongly urge all Exchange Visitors to follow media reports on the storm and follow instructions of local officials.
